Software Development Manager
About the role
The Software Development Manager will lead a team of software developers and quality assurance analysts, responsible for the development and support of applications for our organization. The SDM maintains and drives technical milestones, coordinates development planning and activities with local and international IS and business teams. This position works within a highly interactive team environment and works closely with both functional and technical staff to manage and provide daily direction to implement solutions to business requirements. The SDM provides leadership, motivation and career development while optimizing resources and schedules to ensure that work objectives are met. The SDM is also capable of developing software in the same platforms and languages as the team members this manager leads.
What you’ll do
- Ensure alignment of projects with corporate goals by monitoring, planning, prioritizing, work assignments and executing activities.
- Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent.
- Be integral in the planning and design of the application architecture.
- Present architectural options and design solutions whether re-engineering or developing applications.
- Ensure development projects are scoped and delivered properly to meet the requirements of both business and IT.
- Monitor and manage a team of software developers, providing feedback and training where necessary, conducting performance reviews and mentoring them.
- Oversee the development and refinement of an SDLC, Agile Development, application standards, procedures, templates and tools for system and software development and maintenance.
- Strong project management skills and experience.

- Good knowledge of information technology industry trends, products, techniques, technologies, and processes.
- Ability to write production level code in the same language(s) as the software developers in his/her team.
- Very good written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to effectively document procedures and policies.
- Experience in Agile Software Development.
