About the role
Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) at Caterpillar designs and builds core engine components for heavy equipment. The Senior Engineer leads design, development, and validation of components like cylinder heads, crankshafts, and pistons, collaborating with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to meet performance and durability goals. Based in Bangalore and Chennai, India, this role follows a 5‑day‑a‑week on‑site schedule.
What you’ll do
- Lead engineering activities on NSI programs with global and cross‑functional teams
- Collaborate with suppliers on product and process design to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Manage multiple projects, reporting progress to NSI leads and platform teams
- Execute maintenance, cost‑reduction, and robustness improvement projects
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and purchasing during development
- Present design status to senior leadership and resolve failure issues
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years relevant engineering experience
- 5+ years component design or validation
- Knowledge of core engine component systems
- Experience with NSI, NPI, CPI processes
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency with Pro‑E, NX IDEAS
