Senior Engineer, Core Engine Component Engineering

About the role
Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) at Caterpillar designs and builds core engine components for heavy equipment. The Senior Engineer leads design, development and validation of cylinder heads, blocks, crankshafts and related systems, collaborating with global teams, suppliers and manufacturing to deliver high‑performance, durable products. Chennai, Bangalore, or Aurangabad, on‑site 5‑day work week, travel 15‑20% to supplier sites.
What you’ll do
- Lead engineering activities on NSI programs with global and cross‑functional teams
- Collaborate with suppliers on product and process design to meet quality, cost and delivery goals
- Manage multiple projects, report progress to NSI leads and platform teams
- Execute maintenance, problem resolution and cost‑reduction projects
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality and purchasing during development
- Present design status to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Lead failure analysis and root‑cause resolution
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years engineering experience
- 5+ years component design or validation
- Knowledge of core engine component systems
- Experience with NSI, NPI, CPI processes
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Pro‑E, NX IDEAS
- Project management and organizational skills
