Strategic Sourcing Specialist

About the role

AST SpaceMobile is building the first global cellular broadband network in space to connect unconnected mobile subscribers. As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you drive global sourcing strategies and supplier development for aerospace components across Asia and beyond. This remote role with flexible hours requires availability for international travel.

What you’ll do

• Manage end-to-end sourcing cycles including RFI, RFQ, RFP, and bid evaluation
• Identify, qualify, and develop new strategic suppliers globally, focusing on aerospace components
• Execute strategic sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
• Build and present detailed business cases to support sourcing decisions and cost-saving initiatives
• Conduct cost benchmarking and comparisons to ensure optimal pricing and Total Cost of Ownership
• Negotiate complex, high-value supplier contracts with a focus on cost, lead time, and performance
• Monitor supplier performance metrics KPIs and initiate corrective action plans when required
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure supply chain alignment

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing or supplier development within the aerospace sector
• In-depth knowledge of composite, plastic, metallic materials and manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated success in complex negotiations and international sourcing projects
• Experience with data analysis, cost modeling, and strategic decision-making

Nice to have

• PMP, CPSM, APICS or similar project/sourcing certifications
• Experience managing subcontractors and outsourced warehousing/logistics operations
• Knowledge of AS9100 and other aerospace-specific quality standards
• Electronics manufacturing experience
