Principal Engineering Lead

About the role

Principal Engineering Lead at Deutsche Bank (DWS Group) will spearhead the design, development, and delivery of digital platforms across the bank’s IT platform and infrastructure. The role requires leading engineering teams, overseeing end‑to‑end solutions, and ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Responsibilities include planning and building engineering solutions, integrating with business processes, enforcing coding standards, driving code reviews, unit and integration testing, and collaborating with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend developers. The candidate must have 15‑20 years of hands‑on experience in the financial industry, with expertise in Java, Springboot, React JS, Kafka, Cloud, CI/CD, Dev Ops, and Test Automation. Strong Agile, SRE, and Scrum skills are essential. Leadership experience in people development, resource management, and stakeholder communication across India and global squads is required. What you’ll do

• Lead the engineering, design and delivery of digital platforms and is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration.
• Planning and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals.
• Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions.
• Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow.
• Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability.
• Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools, and solutions in the Bank.
• Architect, develop, and maintain UI components using React.js and JavaScript.
• Define and enforce best practices for UI development, coding standards and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers and backend developers to deliver seamless responsive interfaces.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
• Drive code reviews, unit testing and integration testing processes.
• Contribute to architecture and design decisions for scalable frontend systems and own performance, accessibility and cross browser compatibility.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Science or an IT-related discipline (or equivalent)
• More than 10 years’ experience (hands‑on) development in full stack solutions

Nice to have

• Experience with people development with respect to training, upskilling, providing right opportunities within India and global squads.
• Knowledge in Banking Payment systems will be a huge plus.
