Software Principal Engineer - SRE, Production Engineering

About the role

Develop systems/software aligned with customer business goals, collaborate on new product features with product, engineering, support, detect, remediate, report production incidents, meet SLAs/SLOs, participate in on-call rotation, engage engineering orgs to implement processes, improve results, drive DR exercises, Game days, training, response readiness, build/automate tooling, implement observability best practices, manage services, improve scalability and reliability of production systems, automate provisioning and maintenance of infrastructure, work independently with minimal guidance, mentor engineers, design collaboration, code reviews

What you’ll do

• Develop systems/software aligned with customer business goals
• Collaborate on new product features with product, engineering, support
• Detect, remediate, report production incidents, meet SLAs/SLOs
• Participate in on-call rotation for planned/unplanned events
• Engage engineering orgs to implement processes, improve results
• Drive DR exercises, Game days, training, response readiness
• Build/automate tooling, implement observability best practices, manage services
• Improve scalability and reliability of production systems
• Automate provisioning and maintenance of infrastructure
• Work independently with minimal guidance
• Mentor engineers, design collaboration, code reviews

What you’ll bring

• Expert in defining, measuring, improving Reliability Metrics (SLO/SLI/ Error budgets)
• Implement observability (Monitoring, Logging, Tracing) with New Relic, Splunk, create dashboards
• Expert in Ansible playbooks, Terraform, CloudFormation, Python for infrastructure automation
• Conduct and automate DR exercises in AWS, validate RPOs/RTOs
• Strong AWS component knowledge
• Design and implement internal APIs

Nice to have

• 7+ years software engineering, supporting large-scale production systems
• Detect, remediate, report production incidents, meet SLAs/SLOs, on-call rotation
• Certified in Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP/Oracle) and experience with compute, containers, databases
• Create observability dashboards for SLA/SLI/SLO
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Python
• Knowledge of Cloud Native, containerization, security awareness
