Senior Staff Validation Engineer, Silicon Validation (DC-DC Converters)
About the role
Renesas is seeking a Senior Staff Validation Engineer to join the Silicon Validation team in Bengaluru, focusing on post-silicon validation of DC-DC converter products. The role involves serving as a technical architect and mentor, driving validation test planning, hands-on bench debugging, and root cause analysis for power management ICs. The position requires a hybrid work model with a strong presence in the Bengaluru lab.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary technical expert for post-silicon validation of complex DC-DC converter products.
- Architect comprehensive validation test plans and methodologies from silicon bring-up to characterization.
- Drive the definition and implementation of advanced validation techniques, including automated test development.
- Perform hands-on initial silicon bring-up, debugging, and characterization on the bench.
- Lead root cause analysis of complex silicon issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Develop custom test setups, validation boards, and fixtures to test DC-DC converter performance.
- Provide deep technical mentorship to junior and senior validation engineers.
- Define requirements for and contribute to the development of automated test scripts and frameworks.
What you’ll bring
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in Electrical/Electronics Post-Silicon Validation with a focus on DC-DC converters and power management ICs.
- Deep expertise in DC-DC converter topologies (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, LDOs, Gate Drivers), control schemes, and performance parameters.
- Strong proficiency in PCB schematics, layout review, and design considerations for high-frequency, high-current power circuits.
- Mastery of bench validation methodologies and debugging using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and network analyzers.
- Proven ability to perform root cause analysis of complex silicon issues and drive solutions with design teams.
- Experience with test planning and execution across various PVT corners, operating modes, and stress conditions.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools for schematic/layout viewing and simulation analysis.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.
