Senior Technical Specialist

About the role

Nokia's Fixed Networks Broadband Business Network team in Chennai seeks a Senior Technical Specialist to validate and automate testing for next-generation broadband access solutions. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to design test cases, execute validation of Layer 2/3 protocols, and enhance automation scripts using Python and Robot Framework. This hybrid role ensures high-quality software delivery for customers connecting millions of homes worldwide.

What you’ll do

• Design and execute test cases for broadband access network products
• Build and maintain test environments for functional and regression testing
• Validate Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking features and protocols
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and drive issue resolution
• Develop and enhance automation scripts using Python and Robot Framework
• Execute performance and traffic validation using industry test tools
• Collaborate with development teams to improve product quality
• Support delivery milestones in a fast-paced and agile environment

What you’ll bring

• 11+ years experience in software testing of networking or telecom products
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols including VLAN, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IPv6, QoS, DHCP and PPPoE
• Hands-on experience with test design, execution, defect tracking and reporting
• Experience with Robot Framework and Python-based test automation

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with GPON, FTTH, IPDSLAM or broadband access products
• Hands-on experience with Spirent, IXIA, PCTA or similar traffic generators
• Understanding of CI/CD and test automation best practices
