Architect / POD Lead – Data Engineering

About the role

Orion Innovation seeks an Architect / POD Lead for Data Engineering in Bangalore to design scalable data platforms and pipelines. The role involves leading the Data Engineering POD, driving architecture decisions, and mentoring engineers while ensuring data quality and governance. This is a senior-level position requiring extensive experience in cloud-based data solutions.

What you’ll do

• Design and architect scalable data platforms, pipelines, and engineering solutions
• Define and implement batch processing frameworks using Spring Batch
• Drive data integration using Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, APIs, and event-based integrations
• Ensure data quality, consistency, validation, lineage, and traceability
• Lead the Data Engineering POD and drive architecture decisions and technical best practices
• Mentor engineers and support the development of strong data engineering capabilities
• Design and deploy GCP resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Collaborate with Data, Platform, Product, and other technology teams to deliver solutions

What you’ll bring

• 13–16 years of experience in Data Engineering Architecture
• Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation
• Hands-on experience with GCP / Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Data Pipelines, ETL, and Data Integration
• Knowledge of Spring Batch, Kafka, and Google Pub/Sub

Nice to have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform
• Understanding of Data Quality, Governance, and management principles
• Knowledge of data formats including Avro, JSON, and Parquet
• Experience with API Integration and Event-Driven Architecture
