About the role
At ABB's Smart Power division in Nashik, India, the Senior Design Engineer - LV Switchgear (Mechanical) supports engineering activities across projects of all sizes and complexities under senior engineers. Day-to-day work includes reviewing customer specifications, preparing bills of materials, layout and electrical drawings, collaborating on ABB MNS product solutions, and supporting project management from bid through handover. The role is based in Nashik, Mahārāshtra, India and is on-site.
What you’ll do
- Review customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, and product requirements; identify and define preliminary scope of work for Switchgear and associated components
- Prepare Bills of Materials, Layout Drawings, Single line Drawings, Cable Scheduling and Specifying Review documents
- Collaborate with Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for the ABB MNS product
- Prepare Electrical Drawings including General Arrangement, SLD, Typical Wiring, and detailed drawings
- Prepare Customer-facing Closeout / As built documents for the complete scope of work and engage in customer discussions supporting Project Management and Sales teams
- Prepare Change Order documents to support Project Management and work closely with the team for efficient project execution from Bid Phase to handover
- Complete tasks cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards
- Collect data and support production of the engineering design
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Electrical engineering from a reputed university (full-time)
- 10 to 15 years of experience designing Low Voltage Switchgear, including electrical power distribution and Motor Control Centers
- Hands-on experience with Electrical and 2D layout drawing tools such as EPLAN Electric P8, AutoCAD, etc.
- Strong knowledge of relay protection & control schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams
- Expertise in Switchgear Product Standardization and IEC Standards
- Understanding of Fault level calculations and Switchgear ratings, protection philosophy and components selection of LV Switchgear
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external customers
- Ability to analyze customer technical documentation and apply ABB product offerings to meet expectations efficiently
