Sr Lead Network Development Engineer
About the role
Coupa is a high-growth SaaS company and market leader in Business Spend Management, leveraging community-generated AI and a total spend management platform. As a Sr Lead Network Development Engineer in Pune, India, you will bring an automation-first approach to architect and scale massive-scale cloud networking infrastructure through code, with strong service ownership. You will design, deploy, automate, and support network solutions across public cloud environments, provide Kubernetes network support, and help grow the global network function while participating in an on-call rotation and occasional travel.
What you’ll do
- Design, deploy, automate and support network solutions in a massive-scale public cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience with VM or container-based (Palo Alto Network Firewall, Fortinet, CheckPoint), and Cloud Native (AWS/Azure/GCP) Firewall solutions
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of networks and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, and TLS
- Provide network support for Kubernetes platforms and workloads in major public cloud providers
- Develop roadmaps using established public cloud design standards
- Participate in design reviews and provide network support and leadership to the Engineering organization
- Bring a development mindset in areas such as managing network infrastructure as code, elimination of toil and a strong sense of accountability and service ownership
- Evaluate, specify, implement and support network performance, capacity and availability monitoring tools
What you’ll bring
- Has a degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 10+ years professional experience, some of which is in an enterprise SaaS organization
- Expert in Firewall, VPN, DNS, BGP, and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) network constructs (e.g., VPC, Hybrid routing, security groups)
- Experience managing and maintaining a production-facing Kubernetes environment
- Expert in Kubernetes networking and CNI implementations, with deep understanding of Ingress/Gateway controllers, service discovery, DNS within a cluster, and NetworkPolicy functionality
- Has operated in both data center and cloud environments
- Experience managing and supporting multiple Linux distributions
- Can code using Golang, Python, Java, Ruby or equivalent languages
- Familiar with deploying cloud network infrastructure using Terraform and CloudFormation or has experience with Chef, Ansible and/or Spacelift
Nice to have
- DNS and Mail hosting experience from a service provider perspective
- Security and certificate management knowledge
- Relevant operating system, Kubernetes, Networking and cloud certifications
