About the role

Director, Project Management at Western Union leads the PMO for digital initiatives across global platforms, including online, mobile, bank transfers, wallets, and alternative payment methods. The role oversees planning, execution, and governance of technology projects, aligning them with business strategy and ensuring delivery excellence. Responsibilities include mentoring a global team of project and program managers, providing executive updates on key metrics, championing continuous improvement through agile methodologies, and mitigating risks related to digital processing, fraud prevention, and system scalability. The director drives PI planning, roadmap execution, and collaboration with product, engineering, compliance, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure digital solutions. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, or information systems, 15+ years of progressive management experience, and at least 5 years in the digital domain. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google products, Power BI or Tableau, and agile practices is required. Preferred certifications include PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, or SAFe. What you’ll do

  • Mentor and develop a global team of project and program managers with a focus on Digital domain knowledge and delivery excellence.
  • Provide executive-level updates on the status of Digital programs, highlighting key metrics such as authorization rates, funding success, and latency.
  • Champion continuous improvement in Digital technology delivery processes, leveraging agile methodologies and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to Digital processing, transaction integrity, fraud prevention, and system scalability.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of Digital-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Drive PI planning and roadmap execution for initiatives involving Digital gateways, acquiring banks, digital wallets, and real-time Digital networks.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and compliance teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient Digital solutions across multiple geographies.
  • Lead the execution of technology programs focused Digital capabilities, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, plus 15+ years progressive management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Digital domain.

Nice to have

  • Certification PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or other relevant Technology certifications will be a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in the delivery of Digital technology solutions across multiple geographies.
