About the role

The Senior Accountant – Rebates, Incentive role sits within the Financial Services arm of Mastercard’s Global Business Solution Center (GBSC) in Pune, India. The position oversees accounting and revenue acceptance processes for the Contra Revenue line, focusing on rebates, incentives, advisor services, waivers, and clawbacks. Day-to-day work includes reviewing executed contracts, creating customers and deals in the Contra Revenue System (CRS), managing CRS and Oracle general ledger close, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, validating rebate and incentive payment requests, supporting SOX control compliance, and partnering with business partners across the Mastercard Worldwide organization, with a primary focus on the European region that may require early start times.

What you’ll do

  • Review executed contracts and create customers, deals, and incentives in the Mastercard Contra Revenue System (CRS)
  • Accomplish timely, accurate close of the CRS sub ledger and Oracle general ledger, including creation and review of journal entries
  • Identify and prepare manual journal entries through analysis of close results, trends, and actual to budget/forecast
  • Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations
  • Perform detailed review of rebate and incentive payment requests, including contract review and validation of driver data to internal systems
  • Provide overall support and customer service to business partners located throughout the Mastercard Worldwide organization
  • Recommend, develop, and implement process improvements to improve accounting operational efficiency, quality of output, and optimize synergies
  • Support SOX control compliance and partner with financial systems regarding CRS requirements, data, reporting, and functionality

What you’ll bring

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with relevant work experience
  • Progressive accounting experience, preferably in a large, global environment
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and current accounting concepts
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial/ERP systems, preferably direct experience with Oracle
  • Strong foundation and experience in accounting
  • Ability to produce accurate and reliable outputs/results
  • Strong bias on controls and ensuring processes and procedures are followed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with account managers and colleagues at various management levels
