Senior Accountant – Regional Accounting
About the role
The Senior Accountant – Regional Accounting role supports the Regional Accounting function in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, on a full-time basis. Day-to-day work includes maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger, performing monthly P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, executing quarterly SOX internal control testing, preparing account reconciliations, managing intercompany settlements, and supporting statutory, tax, and external audits. The role also drives process improvements and ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies and standards.
What you’ll do
- Perform advanced and moderately complex accounting activities related to maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger
- Conduct monthly variance analysis of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts
- Execute quarterly compliance testing of internal controls (SOX compliance requirements)
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and perform detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts
- Perform cash custodian responsibilities and ensure appropriate controls are maintained
- Manage intercompany account settlements and reconciliations
- Coordinate and support statutory, tax, and external audit requirements
- Review existing financial processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and financial control
What you’ll bring
- Qualified or actively studying toward CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- 3 to 7 years of experience in a general accounting environment
- 5 years of experience using an accounting ERP (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Costpoint, Oracle)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent financial and management accounting knowledge
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP
- Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and FCPA requirements
- Experience supporting statutory audits and tax compliance
