About the role

Mapping SRE team at Akamai Technologies ensures the reliability, performance, and scalability of the global Mapping Service that routes trillions of daily client requests. The Senior Site Reliability Engineer co‑designs and tracks SLIs/SLOs, builds advanced monitoring and alerting infrastructure, and applies statistical analysis and machine learning to diagnose complex issues. Remote work from India, full‑time role.

What you’ll do

• Define and track critical KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs for the Mapping Service
• Design, build, and maintain monitoring and alerting infrastructure
• Analyze large datasets to identify performance bottlenecks
• Develop internal tools for automated performance tracking and incident diagnosis
• Collaborate with product engineers to improve system reliability and scalability
• Provide data‑driven insights for executive decision‑making
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents

What you’ll bring

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years Site Reliability Engineering experience
• Deep mastery of Unix/Linux internals
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and distributed systems
• Statistical data analysis and SQL querying
• Experience with observability tools like Grafana
• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting language
