Assistant Manager, Logistics & Infra Project & Construction

About the role

Logistics & Infrastructure team at Tata Steel drives the planning and execution of high‑volume steel expansion projects. The role designs rail, yard, road and material‑handling infrastructure, coordinates cross‑functional engineering teams, and oversees installation, commissioning and safety compliance. Based across Jajpur, Jamshedpur, Meramandali, Tarapur and West Bokaro with an on‑site work model, the position also leads SAP and digital logistics tool implementation and manages vendor contracts and cost models.

What you’ll do

• Plan logistics and infrastructure capacity for raw material and steel expansion projects
• Design and develop rail, yard, road, and material‑handling infrastructure aligned with phased capacity ramp‑up
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, civil, mechanical and electrical teams for execution and commissioning
• Oversee installation and commissioning of conveyors, wagon tipplers, stacker‑reclaimers and ship unloaders
• Develop logistics Capex estimates, operating cost models and project schedules
• Manage transporters, contractors and logistics service providers ensuring SLA adherence
• Implement SAP, Yard Management Systems and digital logistics tools
• Plan manpower, SOPs and system readiness prior to go‑live and production ramp‑up

What you’ll bring

• 3-10 years logistics or infrastructure project experience
• B.E/B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Metallurgical, Production or Industrial Engineering
• Proficiency with SAP MM/SD/WM/TM and yard management systems
• Experience in rail, yard, road or material‑handling design
• Strong vendor and contract management skills
• Knowledge of safety, statutory and environmental compliance
