About the role
The Supplier Quality Engineer, AP role is based in Pune and focuses on managing supplier quality for assigned categories and projects. Day-to-day work includes leading supplier qualification, audits, and first article inspections; resolving quality issues through RCA and CAPA; coordinating with procurement on agreements and claims; and supporting new development and sales projects. The position requires 60-70% domestic/international travel and deployments.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with procurement during supplier selection and qualification, providing input on quality risks, capabilities, and technical compliance
- Lead supplier qualification processes, including audits, documentation reviews, and first article inspections
- Act as the primary supplier quality contact for assigned category(ies)/projects, managing supplier delivery performance
- Coordinate with Procurement to embed quality expectations in supplier agreements and onboarding processes
- Drive timely resolution of supplier quality issues through root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Conduct supplier visits, process audits, and Gemba walks to verify compliance and enable proactive risk mitigation
- Lead and track supplier claim management activities by initiating claims, validating cost of poor quality (COPQ), and supporting claim recovery with Procurement
- Support supplier coaching on quality tools and practices to foster self-inspection, problem-solving, and capability growth
What you’ll bring
- Technical degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent technical field)
- At least 04 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, or industrial quality assurance roles
- Good knowledge of supplier quality processes (APQP, Audits, NCR/CAPA, qualification)
- Competence in quality tools and techniques (8D, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, root cause analysis)
- Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and related QHSE standards
- Ability to collaborate across functions and with suppliers
- Good communication in English and fluent in local language
- Willingness to comply with company HSE procedures and practices
Nice to have
- Experience in capital projects or low-volume/high-complexity production environments
- Hands-on experience with supplier audits, inspections, and qualification activities
- Exposure to project-based procurement, customer-facing quality, or field quality
- Experience in multi-cultural and multi-national environment
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma
