Trainee Engineer – Oil & Gas Data Analyst

About the role

Quest Global is an engineering services provider seeking a Trainee Engineer – Oil & Gas Data Analyst in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The role involves reviewing, cleansing, and mapping large technical asset datasets from source APM systems into a target SAP environment, applying NLP and rule-based techniques to standardize unstructured text. Day-to-day work includes SQL and Python data extraction, building BI dashboards and reconciliation trackers, performing migration validation, and documenting audit logs and training materials. This is a full-time position for a recent graduate.

What you’ll do

• Review, profile, and cleanse large technical asset datasets extracted from source APM systems to maintain data quality and integrity
• Analyze unstructured free-text fields and apply rule-based or NLP techniques to standardize and convert them into structured picklist options in the target SAP system
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand source data schemas and perform source-to-target data mapping
• Assist in the design, coordination, and execution of data migration plans, load routines, and schedule tracking
• Extract and query relational data from enterprise databases using SQL and Python (Pandas, NumPy)
• Develop analytical dashboards, metrics, and reconciliation trackers using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire) and Advanced Excel
• Perform pre-load verification and post-migration validation testing to ensure accurate, complete data transfer into the SAP environment
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, including data audit logs, mapping sheets, reconciliation reports, and user training materials

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, IT, or a related field (Recent Graduate)
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel for data extraction, manipulation, and pipeline building
• Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire
• Foundational knowledge of data cleansing, text processing/NLP, and enterprise ERP or database systems
• Basic understanding of or keen interest in oil & gas engineering concepts and technical drawings (e.g., P&IDs, PFDs)
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and clear communication for cross-functional collaboration
