Associate Director, Data and AI Studio Product Architect

About the role

Strategy and Architecture (SnA) organization, Data and AI Studio at Merck. Leads evolution of enterprise Data Engineering and Data Science ecosystem, designing AI agent‑driven unified development environments and reference architectures. Guides a team of engineers, collaborates with product managers and platform engineers, and drives adoption of cutting‑edge AI/ML technologies. Hyderabad, hybrid (remote‑hybrid) work model, relocation assistance available.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain architecture and product vision aligned with business objectives
• Lead and mentor engineering team to achieve delivery goals
• Design and integrate modular, scalable, interoperable data and AI products
• Establish and govern architectural frameworks, standards, and guidelines
• Create capability maps, reference architectures, and innovation trend maps
• Participate in hands‑on technical problem‑solving and proof‑of‑concept development
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to align decisions with business goals
• Drive adoption of cutting‑edge AI/ML technologies across product lines

What you’ll bring

• Leadership experience managing technical teams
• Deep expertise in data engineering, data management, and governance
• Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Databricks, Dataiku, Matillion, DBT, Airflow
• Experience building AI agents on industry‑standard platforms
• Knowledge of platform integration patterns, metadata governance, API‑driven design
• Ability to integrate GenAI capabilities into data and analytics ecosystems
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Passion for innovation and delivering high‑impact results
