About the role

Alexa Smart Home team builds next‑generation smart home experiences using large language and vision models. The Senior Applied Scientist designs and implements inference and training techniques, solves computer‑vision challenges, and creates synthetic data pipelines. Bengaluru, on-site, hybrid collaboration with scientists and engineers, mentorship of junior staff, and impact on Alexa’s ambient intelligence features.

What you’ll do

• Develop new inference and training techniques for LLMs in smart home control
• Solve computer vision, video summarization, and video search problems
• Create robust synthetic data generation methods for large model training
• Mentor junior scientists to enhance their skills and productivity

What you’ll bring

• 4+ years building machine learning models for business applications
• PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years applied research experience
• Proficiency in Java, C++, Python
• Experience with deep learning and neural networks
• Familiarity with modeling tools such as scikit‑learn, Spark MLLib, TensorFlow
