About the role

FinAuto TFAW (Theft, Fraud, Abuse, Waste) team within Amazon's FGBS Org builds machine learning applications to detect and prevent fraudulent financial transactions. The Senior Applied Scientist designs, develops, evaluates, and deploys large‑scale predictive models, collaborates with software engineers to implement real‑time solutions, and mentors other scientists. Based in Bengaluru, India, on‑site work required.

What you’ll do

• Use machine learning techniques to create scalable business solutions
• Analyze large historical data to automate and optimize processes
• Design, develop, evaluate, and deploy predictive ML models
• Collaborate with software engineering teams for real‑time model implementation
• Partner with business owners to identify problems and propose ML solutions
• Establish automated processes for data analysis, model development, validation, and maintenance
• Mentor scientists and engineers in ML techniques

What you’ll bring

• 7+ years building ML models for business
• Master's degree or PhD with 5+ years applied research
• Programming in Java, C++, Python
• Experience with neural deep learning methods

Nice to have

• Modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow
• Large scale distributed systems like Hadoop, Spark
