About the role

Pattern's Data Science team seeks a Senior Data and Applied Scientist to optimize logistics and operations through machine learning. The role involves designing predictive models, analyzing large datasets for business insights, and collaborating with global teams in Pune, India. This is a hybrid position requiring strong technical expertise in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and maintain predictive machine learning models and simulations to optimize solutions.
  • Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights that guide business decisions.
  • Conduct research to integrate new data sources, innovate in feature engineering, and enhance data pipelines.
  • Communicate model improvements, data needs, and opportunities across business units and developer teams.
  • Continuously optimize the quality of machine learning models and perform root cause analysis for accuracy defects.
  • Work closely with data science teams across different regions ensuring seamless collaboration.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
  • 3-6 years of industry experience building and deploying machine learning solutions and simulations.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL with hands-on experience in Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost.
  • In-depth expertise in machine learning and statistical techniques including linear/tree-based models.
  • Understanding of linear, integer, and nonlinear programming.

Nice to have

  • 1-3 years of industry experience in logistics/operations preferred.
  • Experience with Git, AWS, and deep learning models is advantageous.
