About the role
This remote role supports a partner company in sourcing acquisition opportunities within the vertical software market. The Sr. Business Development Associate identifies target companies, builds relationships with executives, and manages the pipeline for potential M&A transactions. Based in India, the position offers significant autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
What you’ll do
- Identify new markets, industries, and software categories generating opportunities for future platform acquisitions.
- Research target companies and identify key decision-makers including owners, CEOs, and M&A advisors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with software executives and investment professionals.
- Develop value propositions and establish meaningful conversations with prospective acquisition targets.
- Manage Salesforce CRM activity to track accounts, outreach, follow-ups, and opportunities accurately.
- Qualify opportunities efficiently at the top of the acquisition funnel for the M&A team.
- Set and manage quarterly, monthly, and weekly business development targets and KPIs.
- Coach other team members on effective outreach, relationship management, and sourcing practices.
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years experience in business development or sales within a software company, or client-facing M&A/finance roles.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing at least one completed transaction in an M&A business development role.
- Understanding of fundamental financial and SaaS metrics including ARR, churn, GDR, and COGS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with executive presence to engage CEOs and founders.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in an acquisition-focused organization or similar environment is strongly preferred.
- Previous business development experience in vertical software sectors such as GovTech, LegalTech, Healthcare, Industrial, or Finance.
- An MBA, CFA, or similar advanced qualification is an advantage.
