About the role
GIS Primary Offer Engineering team at Hitachi Energy focuses on tendering and engineering of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) for transmission systems. The Associate Project Engineer develops tender-specific engineering documents and drawings, performs primary engineering calculations, prepares cost estimates, and ensures compliance with standards. Based in Chennai, India, on-site work model.
What you’ll do
- Develop tender engineering documents and drawings for GIS projects
- Perform primary engineering calculations for GIS >66kV including system resistance, thermal loss, gas volume, earthing and cable sizing
- Prepare Bill of Materials and cost estimations
- Create and review drawings such as SLD, layout, cable tray, earthing and assembly overviews
- Coordinate with sales support engineers, area sales managers, and other engineering departments
- Review and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations
- Maintain and update project documentation per quality processes
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 1-5 years experience in tendering or design of LV/MV/HV/EHV products
- Good knowledge of substations
- Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Creo)
- Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards
- Team player handling sales targets and timely solutions
- Excellent communication skills in English
