AVP - Custody Product Development

About the role

State Street’s Cash, Payments and Liquidity (CPL) Product Development team seeks an AVP to lead the modernization of its core payment initiation platform. Based in Mumbai, this role functions as a Product Owner for an Agile team, managing business requirements, backlog grooming, and integration with enterprise applications. The position focuses on enhancing client experience and supporting internal application rationalization efforts within a hybrid work model.

What you’ll do

• Act as Product Owner leading payment initiation platform development and integration
• Develop and groom the product backlog, writing Agile stories and epics
• Manage input from SMEs, operations, and clients to define substantive business requirements
• Lead agile team members in defect identification, triage, and remediation
• Support design of operating models, standards, and technical stack architecture
• Ensure change alignment with existing regulations and internal policies
• Oversee archival of documentation and program artifacts for audit purposes
• Drive solutions and execute on the custody product development agenda

What you’ll bring

• 3-5+ years’ experience in Securities Services or Banking/Payments
• Experience as a Product Owner or Principle Product Owner in Agile environments
• Subject matter expertise in payments and banking business processes
• Ability to develop complete business requirements, use cases, and operational flows
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and local deployment requirements

Nice to have

• Familiarity with messaging standards such as ISO 20022 pacs, pain, and camt
• Experience building interface catalogues based on defined data standards
• Prior experience working in Product organizations at a global level
• Operational or technology background supporting integration services
