About the role
Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) at Apple leads the development of mechanical manufacturing processes across the global supply base. The manager guides a team to translate design intent into scalable production, collaborating with Industrial Design, Product Design, Operations and suppliers from prototype to mass production. Based in Chennai, India, on-site role with occasional travel.
What you’ll do
- Lead engineering team delivering manufacturing processes
- Coordinate with cross‑functional partners to ensure design intent
- Drive NPI programs from prototype to mass production
- Apply statistical methods and PFMEA to improve quality
- Set supplier qualification standards and oversee equipment development
What you’ll bring
- 12+ years precision manufacturing engineering
- 5+ years engineering management
- Expertise in CNC machining, surface finishing, glass processing or assembly
- Proficiency in DOE, root cause analysis, SPC, Cp/Cpk, PFMEA
- Program management across NPI lifecycle
- Experience with global supply chain collaboration
- ~35% travel
