Lead Engineer 2 - Mechanical BoP

About the role

The Lead Engineer 2 - Mechanical BoP role at the Vadodara location focuses on basic and detail design engineering for mechanical Balance of Plant systems in Hydro Power Plants. Day-to-day work includes preparing design memoranda, flow diagrams, sizing calculations, and supplier specifications for systems such as cooling water, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, and EOT cranes, along with vendor evaluation, BOQ and technical specification preparation, and EHS implementation. The position reports functionally to the Mechanical sub-COE leader and operationally to the System Integrator/PEM, and requires strong layout and piping knowledge, AutoCAD and AFT software proficiency, and good English communication skills.

What you’ll do

• Prepare basic engineering documents including design memoranda, flow diagrams, sizing calculations, and supplier specifications for water, oil, air, and utility systems in Hydro Power Plants
• Handle systems such as EOT cranes and handling equipment, cooling water, drainage and dewatering, HVAC, fire protection and detection, lubricating and insulating oil filtration, compressed air, passen
• Evaluate vendor offers, conduct technical meetings with vendors, and review and obtain client approval of system documents and drawings
• Review interfaces with internal clients, gather inputs/interface requirements, and maintain records
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Technical Specifications, handle enquiries, float tender documents, and perform cost estimation for hydro power plant services
• Evaluate technical submittals by vendors and approve them, and conduct supplier KOM and follow-ups
• Coordinate during site surveys and input collection for engineering
• Contribute to project reviews with technical inputs and strategies, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and implement Lean Engineering and EHS practices

What you’ll bring

• Graduate Mechanical or Process engineer
• Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience
• Good technical knowledge in Layout & piping
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and AFT software for pump head and pipe size selection
• Good communication skill in English (written & verbal)
• Knowledge of preparing and reviewing detail working drawings
• Knowledge of various STD codes of Mechanical systems
• Good knowledge of EHS/safety rules for layout engineering
