About the role

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) seeks a Librarian to provide strategic leadership for the library in support of the Institute’s teaching and research mission. The role involves planning and implementing library policies, managing print and electronic resources, budgets, and staff, and advancing knowledge management and emerging technologies across the main campus and the upcoming Library Annex. Based in Bangalore, India, this full-time position reports to the library function and supervises Deputy Librarians, Assistant Librarians, Senior Executives, and Executives.

What you’ll do

  • Develop effective print and electronic resources, services, and facilities, and manage budget and human resources
  • Manage a complex physical and virtual environment to deliver information services and preserve information in all formats
  • Plan and arrange course-integrated and stand-alone library instruction sessions for individuals and groups
  • Create career paths for library staff and emphasize diverse collections and services including technology, distant access, instruction, data analysis and search, information support, and marketing of
  • Lead outreach by marketing the library’s print and electronic resources and responding to changing information needs of the community
  • Develop and provide personalized and web/app-based services to the community
  • Meet with faculty to plan and develop classes, assignments, and activities for course-integrated library instruction
  • Build cooperative relationships with on- and off-campus constituencies as an advocate for the library and serve as an advisor on all aspects relating to library operations

What you’ll bring

  • Master’s degree in library science/information science/Documentation with ≥55% marks or equivalent CGPA
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as Deputy Librarian or Librarian in a reputed academic and research institute of national importance
  • Understanding of knowledge management systems
  • MIS generation, technical scenario planning, and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
  • Ability to supervise professional and clerical staff
  • Experience in managing national and international libraries/resources centers
  • Experience implementing RFID-enabled technologies, discovery services, full-text finder, CMS, ILS, research data management, institutional repository, proxy access, library analytics, archives managem
