About the role

The Process Engineer (Fired Equipment Monitoring) role within the refinery and petrochemical operations team is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The position focuses on daily global surveillance of fired heaters for performance, safety, and asset integrity, reporting deviations to stakeholders, and troubleshooting to suggest performance improvements. The engineer performs thermal modeling, process evaluations, and simulation to ensure compliance with plant OPEX while collaborating across process, mechanical, and project engineering teams.

What you’ll do

  • Surveillance of multiple Fired heater operation simultaneously for performance monitoring on daily basis including safety and integrity.
  • Performance report preparation covering the various aspects of Fired heater operation.
  • Abnormality identification, carrying out root cause analysis, proposing remedial measures and timely reporting to stakeholders and discussion.
  • Tracking the recommendation acceptance and compliance and follow up.
  • Perform thermal modeling and analysis for various types of fired heaters used in refinery and petrochemical units.
  • Conduct process and thermal performance evaluations to ensure compliance with plant OPEX.
  • Utilize simulation software for fired heater simulation and optimization.
  • Support troubleshooting and performance improvement activities for existing fired heater systems.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in oil and gas-refinery units.
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid flow, and process engineering fundamentals.
  • Understanding of various fired heater configurations, different modes of operation, and key challenges in various technology applications.
  • Handling heater operations or relevant experience in units which have process heaters as a critical process equipment.
  • Ability to interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and process datasheets, GA drawings.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in oil and gas industry with process heaters as key components.
  • Good to have exposure of working with process simulation tools FRNC-5PC.
  • Familiarity with fired heaters troubleshooting and debottlenecking studies.
  • Experience in furnace performance evaluation calculations.
  • Familiar with other types of fired equipment including boilers, flares, thermal oxidizers, and HRSGs.
  • Knowledge of API and relevant industry standards will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in thermal rating and engineering analysis of Fired heaters is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in fired heater performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
