About the role
Key Roles & Responsibilities Assess and evaluate marine insurance proposals for cargo, hull, and transit risks and liaise with regional teams and facilitate support to achieve budgeted GWP. Ensuring Loss Ratios and COR for marine book are within budged numbers. Analyze risk exposure, claims history, and underwriting information. Ensure regular engagement with internal / external stakeholders for improvement in our overall processes, systems and also visibility in the market. Represent the company for marine LOB in various forums meetings conducted by regulatory bodies like GI council and IIB etc. Decide policy terms, conditions, pricing, and coverage based on underwriting guidelines. Coordinate with brokers, agents, and internal teams for policy servicing. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company underwriting standards. Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios, and profitability. Handle reinsurance requirements and documentation wherever applicable. Support regional team with approval, arranging FAC support and answer and guide regional teams Support claims team with underwriting inputs when required. Maintain accurate underwriting records and MIS reports. Taking initiative and interaction with IT team for system improvements and development. Key Requirements – Education & Certification Graduate / Post Graduate Key Requirements – Experience & Skills 10-15 years of experience in Marine Underwriting Experience in handling corporate marine risks preferred. Strong understanding of marine insurance products and underwriting principles. Knowledge of cargo, inland transit, hull, and liability policies. Proficiency in MS Excel and insurance systems/platforms.
