About the role

Alexa Excellence team drives world‑class Alexa reliability for hundreds of millions of customers. As a Senior Applied Scientist on the Alexa Availability team you will design and implement production‑grade ML and statistical models, establish rigorous evaluation frameworks, and ensure LLM‑powered systems are grounded, reliable and unbiased. You will partner with engineers, product managers and operations leaders to translate research into production, mentor fellow scientists and influence the broader organization. Chennai, India, on-site.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement production‑grade ML solutions
• Establish rigorous model evaluation frameworks
• Ensure model reliability and bias mitigation
• Partner with engineers, product managers and operations leaders
• Mentor fellow scientists
• Drive scientific agenda for the team

Nice to have

• 3+ years building ML models for business applications
• PhD or Master's +6 years applied research experience
• Programming in Java, C++ or Python
• Deep learning and neural methods experience
• Modeling tools: R, scikit‑learn, Spark MLLib, TensorFlow
• Large‑scale distributed systems experience: Hadoop, Spark
