Associate, Electrical Engineering
About the role
WSP India’s Buildings Mechanical Electrical Public Health (MEP) business is establishing a MEP Design Capacity in Noida, and this Associate, Electrical Engineering role is central to that effort. Day-to-day, you will lead and grow a team of engineers, manage multiple projects and fees, deliver detailed electrical/building services design to WSP India and Global Building Regulations standards, and mentor junior staff. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, the role includes a short-term secondment to WSP India offices and operates under WSP Global standards.
What you’ll do
- Liaise with WSP India design teams to agree project briefs, deliverables, programmes and required India-based resources
- Agree project fees according to brief, resource required and programme
- Take responsibility for quality of detailed design to WSP India and Global Building Regulations standards, including technical reviews, sign-off, complex calculations and co-ordination issues
- Ensure designs are co-ordinated with due consideration of Health & Safety, Construction Design Management and Quality Assurance standards
- Communicate and update local Indian and wider Global project teams on programme delivery and quality issues using staff utilisation charts and KPI reporting
- Review outputs of Computer Aided Design analysis and determine additional levels of checking needed
- Develop energy strategies incorporating renewable technologies and low energy designs to satisfy local authority planning requirements and Building Regulations Part L compliance
- Inform the Commercial Director of Professional Indemnity issues in line with WSP India policy
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in the design of Building Services, with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Conversant with technical mechanical or electrical software such as IES, Amtech, Hevacomp, Relux and Dialux
- Sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Project
- Fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology
- Ideally British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, and membership to an accredited engineering body
- Ability to manage projects, fees, invoicing and project-resource management
- Ability to plan and design deliverables against British Engineering standards for each stage of a project
