About the role
Medicinal Chemistry team at Elanco focuses on discovering novel small‑molecule medicines for animal health. The Senior Research Scientist designs and synthesizes compounds, leads SAR studies, and leverages AI/ML and DNA‑Encoded Libraries to accelerate hit identification and lead optimization. Works collaboratively with biology, pharmacology, DMPK, toxicology and computational scientists in a hybrid model based in Bangalore, India, with occasional on‑site CRO coordination.
What you’ll do
- Design novel small molecules and drive SAR studies
- Manage synthesis, purification, and characterization with CROs and internal teams
- Apply DNA‑Encoded Libraries and AI/ML tools for hit identification
- Collaborate with cross‑functional scientists across biology, pharmacology, DMPK, toxicology, and computational sciences
- Maintain experimental design standards and data integrity
What you’ll bring
- PhD in Medicinal Chemistry or related field
- 3+ years industry experience in medicinal chemistry
Nice to have
- Postdoctoral experience
- Experience with DNA‑Encoded Libraries or AI/ML applications
- Track record of advancing programs to preclinical
- Prior animal health industry experience
- Expertise in peptide chemistry
