Senior Data Scientist (Data Scientist III : Supply Chain Operations Research)

About the role

Quince is a direct-to-consumer retail company disrupting the industry by leveraging AI and analytics to provide high-quality essentials at low prices. As a Senior Data Scientist in the Supply Chain Planning Science team, you will develop and productionize advanced Operations Research solutions for warehouse routing, transportation, and inventory planning. This role requires translating complex operational challenges into scalable optimization models while collaborating with teams in Bangalore and Palo Alto.

What you’ll do

• Own modelling workstreams end-to-end from problem formulation through production deployment and iteration
• Translate operational challenges into well-defined optimization problems with clear objectives and constraints
• Apply Operations Research methodologies including LP, MIP, CP, heuristics, vehicle routing, and network flow
• Use AI-native workflows including LLM-assisted model formulation and agentic decomposition of complex problems
• Build and deploy models into production, owning monitoring, performance evaluation, and iteration cycles
• Partner with Planning Tools Engineering on solver integration, feature stores, and model-serving infrastructure
• Collaborate with Palo Alto Planning Science team on shared supply chain optimization problems
• Work directly with logistics and supply chain stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into actionable requirements

What you’ll bring

• 5–8 years of experience in Operations Research, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or related quantitative field
• Strong expertise in optimization methodologies including LP, MIP, CP, heuristics, vehicle routing, and network flow
• Hands-on experience building and shipping production models with measurable business impact
• Experience working with optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or similar
• Engineering fluency in feature pipelines, solver integration, experimentation infrastructure, and model serving
• Demonstrated experience applying AI/LLM tools to scientific workflows like model formulation or experiment design

• Advanced degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or warehouse optimization
• Experience with large-scale vehicle routing and network optimization problems
• Experience building production-grade optimization or decision-support platforms
• Experience working with distributed Data Science or Operations Research teams
