Lead Software Engineer

About the role

Lead Software Engineer within JPMorgan Chase's Commercial & Investment Bank Post Trade Technology team in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. You will be a core technical contributor on an agile team, designing, building, and delivering secure, scalable technology products while supporting a migration and modernization journey. Day-to-day work includes executing creative software solutions, developing and reviewing production code, driving AI-assisted engineering practices, and leading vendor and community evaluations. The role is full-time with no explicit remote or hybrid work model stated.

What you’ll do

• Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting beyond routine approaches
• Develop secure high-quality production code and review/debug code written by others
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns
• Apply SDLC toolchain tools, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve automation value
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

What you’ll bring

• Formal training or certification on Java software engineering concepts
• 5+ years applied experience in software engineering
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in Java
• Experience with SpringBoot framework
• Experience with AWS Lambda and Data Analytics services
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting team expectations for validating AI outputs

Nice to have

• Experience with system design and code reviews
• Exposure to cloud technologies
