Technical Architect

About the role

Photon Group seeks an experienced Frontend Technical Architect to lead the architecture and design of mobile applications. The role focuses on React Native, mobile performance, offline-first capabilities, and secure payment flows. The architect will define code structure, state management, reusable components, and technical direction for critical features such as eWallet, real-time receipts, and complex tender flows. Collaboration with backend architects, QA, DevOps, and security teams ensures scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions. Responsibilities include evaluating architecture patterns, mentoring engineers, optimizing performance, accessibility, and testing strategy, and establishing CI/CD pipelines. Candidates must have 12+ years in software development, 5+ years in React Native architecture, and strong knowledge of mobile performance profiling, memory management, and PCI/DSS compliance. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, and modern tooling (Jira, Bitrise, Fastlane, ESLint, TypeScript, Redux, Detox, Jest, Appium) is required. Nice to have experience in retail, inventory, or fintech app architecture and design systems.

What you’ll do

• Define code structure, modularization, state management, reusable components.
• Drive technical design for offline mode, store-and-forward, eWallet, real-time receipts, tender flows, secure checkout.
• Evaluate and implement architecture patterns like MVVM, Redux, or React Context API.
• Collaborate with backend architects to optimize API contracts for frontend performance.
• Review code, enforce best practices, mentor frontend engineers.
• Own performance optimizations, accessibility, testing strategy, app security.
• Work with QA, DevOps, security teams to define CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding standards.

What you’ll bring

• 12+ years software dev, 4+ years architecture roles.
• 5+ years React Native architecture and development.
• Strong mobile performance profiling, memory management, offline-first architecture.
• Experience building high-volume transactional apps with secure payments and PCI/DSS compliance.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, local storage.
• Hands-on with Jira, Bitrise, Fastlane, ESLint, TypeScript, Redux, Detox, Jest, Appium.
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Prior experience architecting retail, inventory, or fintech apps.
• Knowledge of design systems and component libraries (Figma to React).
