About the role

Applied R&D at Nokia leads the development of cutting‑edge fiber‑based fixed access network solutions. The Principal Technical Specialist drives architecture and end‑to‑end design of OLT software platforms, working on GPON/XGPON technologies, Layer 2 networking, and performance optimization. Hybrid work model based in India, collaborating with product management and cross‑functional teams to deliver large‑scale deployments.

What you’ll do

Own and drive architecture & development of OLT software platforms
Work on Fiber Transport technologies focusing on GPON/XGPON systems
Design and implement Layer 2 networking solutions (forwarding, multicast, QoS)
Collaborate with Product Management to translate customer feedback into features
Drive end‑to‑end troubleshooting of complex telecom software issues
Provide technical leadership across teams, guiding design decisions
Contribute to an agile, fast‑paced development environment
Foster innovation within the team

What you’ll bring

Graduate or Postgraduate Degree in Engineering
15+ years in telecom broadband access domain (Fiber Transport/OLT development)
Strong knowledge of Datacom, L2 forwarding, QoS, VLAN, L2 protocols
Programming expertise in C, C++, Python, Go
Test automation expertise with Robo and Python
Knowledge of network processors, packet processing, traffic engineering
Experience with network element management and data models
Demonstrated technical leadership and team mentoring
