Data Governance Analyst

About the role

ConvaTec is building a data function where data governance is central, and this Data Governance Analyst role is a critical delivery position within that build. The role contributes to making Convatec’s data findable, traceable, and trustworthy by supporting the business glossary, data catalogue in Microsoft Purview, data lineage, and a data quality framework. The candidate will establish new processes and artefacts from the ground up and work with business stakeholders to drive adoption with support from data leadership. This is a full-time, remote position based in India.

What you’ll do

• Build, populate and maintain the enterprise business glossary and data catalogue in Microsoft Purview (for example Finance & FP&A, Commercial, CRM, Supply Chain)
• Administer the tooling so the catalogue does not decay after go-live
• Engage data owners, stewards and subject matter experts to agree and publish common definitions for critical data elements, resolving conflicting versions to a single agreed source, and enforcing meta
• Capture and maintain end-to-end lineage for critical data elements across the full pipeline and document it in a form both engineers and business stakeholders can act on
• Establish change impact analysis so that upstream source changes identify and warn affected downstream reports, models and consumers in advance
• Work with business data owners and governance sponsors to translate business risk into testable data quality rules across recognised dimensions, and implement them as automated, monitored checks with
• Profile data, lead root cause analysis on quality issues through to conclusion with measurable outcomes, and manage the data quality issues log end to end

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management or a closely adjacent role in a large or complex organization
• Demonstrable hands-on experience of at least two of: Business Glossary, Data Catalogue, Data lineage or Data Quality
• Practical experience implementing or configuring a data governance or cataloguing tool
• Proven ability to bridge business and technology
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Purview is desirable
• Experience working in S4/Hana or SAP environment
• Experience in a regulated industry
• Experience with dedicated data quality or observability tooling
• Exposure to master and reference data management
