Technical Lead

About the role

We’re looking for an exceedingly talented Technical Lead to work as part of the Risk Intelligence Engineering Support team. The role includes on‑call rotation, incident response, and coordination with cross‑functional teams to ensure service continuity. As a Technical Lead, you’ll drive the technical direction of Risk Products, mentor team members, and collaborate with architects to align technical choices with overall product architecture. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable Python code and AWS solutions, leading engineering groups, ensuring high software quality through automated testing, creating and maintaining technical documentation, reviewing peer work, and improving problem‑resolution workflows. You’ll also participate in status meetings, provide timely updates, and mentor junior developers. The role requires deep expertise in AWS Architecture, Python, object‑oriented programming, design patterns, HTML5, JavaScript (ES5/6/7), cross‑browser compatibility, unit testing, secure coding, RESTful interfaces, front‑end build tools (Grunt, Gulp.js, webpack), browser rendering, Git/SVN, agile lifecycle, continuous integration, TDD, and BDD. Good to have experience with Java and polyglot environments.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code & AWS based on User Stories.
• Develop software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies.
• Lead groups of engineers and management to coordinate and deliver larger developments.
• Ensure that there is a focus on software quality through effective testing, doing what is necessary to provide a framework for teams to understand the quality of our developments.
• Work closely with the QA team to ensure that code is developed to a high quality, evidenced through automated testing.
• Create, review, and maintain all required technical documentation to ensure supportability and reuse.
• Review work of peers and more junior developers.
• Assist with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow.
• Actively participate in team and status meetings, providing timely status updates for areas of individual responsibilities within projects to supervisor.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical production systems outside of regular business hours.
• Mentor members of the team to ensure that the team has the capabilities it needs to deliver.

What you’ll bring

• Experienced Lead engineer (8-11years) with excellent knowledge of AWS Architecture, Python language.
• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming.
• Familiar with various design patterns.
• Experienced software engineer with extensive knowledge of HTML5 and the JavaScript language ES5/6/7
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
• Experience of unit testing JavaScript
• Solid understanding of security implications and secure coding
• Familiar with RESTful interfaces
• Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt, Gulp.js, webpack
• Good understanding of browser rendering behaviour and performance
• Self-starter - does what it takes to get the job done
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Skill for writing clean, readable code and reusable components · Proficient using source code management tools such as Git or SVN
• Experienced in a formal agile software development lifecycle.
• Familiar with continuous build and integration
• Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behaviour Driven Development

Nice to have

Exposure to Java and experience working in polyglot environments. This helps in cross-functional collaboration and system-level design across diverse tech stacks.
