Senior Power System Engineer

ABB's Global Power System Consulting team in Bangalore, India, empowers engineers to lead power system studies that optimize electrical grid performance and reliability. This Senior Power System Engineer role involves modeling complex systems using industry-standard software, conducting detailed analyses like load flow and short-circuit studies, and mentoring junior staff. The position is based in Bangalore with a preference for on-site collaboration within an international team.

What you’ll do

• Lead and conduct power system studies to analyze performance and recommend solutions
• Develop power system models using software such as ETAP, PowerFactory, and PSCAD
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analyses
• Develop protection and coordination schemes for high-, medium-, and low-voltage networks
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers
• Prepare accurate technical reports and presentations summarizing study findings
• Take ownership of deliverables to meet client expectations and project schedules
• Collaborate with international teams of engineers, project managers, and clients

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering; Master’s/PhD preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system analysis and studies
• Proficiency in simulation software such as ETAP, PowerFactory, or PSCAD
• Detailed knowledge of protection and coordination schemes for electrical equipment
• Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations related to power systems

• Affinity towards programming (Excel VBA, SQL, Python, DigSILENT PL, Power BI)
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• High self-motivation and project management abilities
