About the role

Renesas India’s mission is to grow the local market by creating SoCs, software, and chips tailored to specific Indian needs. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you lead subsystem-level physical design closure for complex hierarchical SoCs, ensuring timing, power integrity, and congestion are managed effectively. This role requires deep collaboration with SoC teams and mentoring junior engineers in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

What you’ll do

Lead block- and subsystem-level physical design closure, including timing closure, congestion mitigation, and power integrity
Collaborate closely with SoC-level physical design teams to align on clocking strategies, floorplanning intent, and integration requirements
Develop, refine, and scale subsystem closure methodologies, flows, and automation to improve predictability and efficiency
Mentor and guide physical design engineers within subsystem teams, promoting best practices and technical rigor
Work cross-functionally with RTL design, STA, power, verification, and backend teams to ensure smooth handoffs
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate physical design risks, coordinating with SoC teams to manage impacts

What you’ll bring

10+ years of experience in physical design focusing on subsystem-level closure for complex hierarchical SoCs
Strong expertise in timing closure, constraint management, congestion analysis, and resolution
Deep knowledge of power integrity and power-aware physical implementation methodologies
Solid understanding of SoC-level floorplanning and clocking methodologies including skew management and clock gating
Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as Synopsys ICC2, Fusion Compiler, PrimeTime, Cadence Innovus, Tempus, and Certus

Nice to have

Proficiency in scripting and automation using Tcl, Python, and/or Perl
B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
