Senior Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Gramian Consultancy is hiring a Senior Java Backend Engineer for a client supporting the development of advanced AI systems by incorporating high-quality software engineering expertise into training and evaluation workflows. The role involves building and reviewing production-grade backend systems, improving reliability and performance, and contributing technically rigorous software outputs that help train next-generation AI systems. This is a full-time contract position with remote work across India, Romania, Brazil, France, Argentina, and Poland, with compensation ranging from $60–$110 per hour.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java backend systems
• Build production-grade services using Spring Boot
• Architect and implement robust microservices for complex application requirements
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend integrations
• Review technical specifications and translate them into reliable implementations
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend services for performance and stability
• Participate in code reviews and provide technically grounded feedback
• Improve backend reliability, security, maintainability, and scalability
