Senior Software Engineer - Semantic Data Lake

About the role
Our partner company seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join its data engineering team in building an AI-native enterprise data platform. Based in India with remote work flexibility, you will design control-plane services and semantic models to transform raw data into trusted business assets. The role integrates modern software engineering with AI-assisted development practices to ensure scalable, governed data products.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement core infrastructure and control-plane services for data lifecycles
- Build proactive reliability capabilities including observability frameworks and automated quality gates
- Develop self-service portals and developer tooling for domain teams to manage data products
- Automate governance and security capabilities including data lineage and metadata management
- Contribute to AI-native data architecture including RAG systems and agentic workflows
- Use AI coding assistants to accelerate development while applying strong engineering judgment
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business concepts into scalable semantic models
- Implement traceable data logic maintaining standards for modeling and responsible AI use
What you’ll bring
- 4–8 years of experience in software or data engineering
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala
- Hands-on experience using AI development tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot
- Practical knowledge of AI-native architectures including RAG systems and vector databases
- Experience with Apache Airflow for data orchestration and pipeline engineering
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Kubernetes
- Experience implementing enterprise data governance using DataHub or similar platforms
- Knowledge of observability practices using technologies such as Grafana
