Lead Systems Engineer - System Studies
About the role
Lead Systems Engineer - System Studies at GE (PES power electronics solutions) designs cost-effective HVDC installation solutions, specifies high-value bought-out equipment, and leads power system studies including insulation coordination, EMT/steady-state simulations, reliability, and losses. The role also develops and industrializes engineering tools and processes, mentors engineers, and represents the business in external technical events. Locations: Noida and Pallavaram; relocation assistance provided.
What you’ll do
- Perform insulation coordination studies: determine temporary and transient overvoltage stresses on equipment and surge arrester energy ratings by simulation
- Perform power system simulations (steady-state and EMT studies) for projects and tenders
- Conduct network studies to confirm correct interaction between equipment, its control system, and the rest of the network
- Create overall reliability and availability models for projects and report to the client
- Calculate overall project losses and report to the client
- Provide guidance and coordinate engineering tasks to meet project/tender requirements
- Develop and industrialize solutions tools and processes associated with the engineering activities
- Be actively involved in new HVDC developments, implementing control and protection solutions and creating/delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools
What you’ll bring
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) with power systems and power electronics subjects (minimum 2:1)
- Proven professional experience and technical expertise in power system engineering, preferably in HVDC System Design
- Knowledge of system tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS, and MATLAB
- Insulation coordination and main equipment characteristics for HVDC
- Expertise in computer mathematical and simulation tools applied to design activities
- Understanding of Power Quality Issues
- General understanding of HVDC Valves and their control systems
- Presentation ability
