About the role

This pivotal technical leadership role within an early-stage wearable sensing and robotics company owns end-to-end engineering execution for a body-worn sensing platform. The Head of Engineering leads a distributed hardware team across India and the US, remaining deeply hands-on with system architecture, power systems, and sensor synchronization. This is an on-site position based in India with regular monthly travel to San Francisco.

What you’ll do

  • Own end-to-end technical execution from architecture through production
  • Lead and coordinate distributed engineering teams across time zones
  • Define hardware system architecture integrating mechanical, electrical, and firmware subsystems
  • Apply first-principles engineering to power architecture and sensor challenges
  • Debug firmware and system-level issues using diagnostic tools
  • Review mechanical designs for integrity, durability, and ergonomics
  • Shape hiring criteria and team development practices
  • Support supply chain, vendor management, and regulatory compliance

What you’ll bring

  • 6–10+ years of hardware engineering experience in wearables or robotics
  • Proven track record taking a hardware product from prototype to deployment
  • Deep expertise in battery-powered multi-rail power systems and schematic review
  • Strong experience with sensor synchronization and firmware-level timestamping
  • Practical firmware and embedded Linux debugging skills
  • US citizenship or valid US visa required; no sponsorship available

Nice to have

  • Experience as Staff/Principal Engineer or Founding Engineer
  • Ability to lead distributed technical teams effectively
  • Excellent written communication for translating requirements into specs
  • Familiarity with UL/IEC regulatory requirements for wearables
  • Experience with manufacturing handoff and production scale-up
