About the role
Allegro Microsystems' Motor driver IC team seeks a Senior Systems Engineer, Product Definition to define new products, model system-level architecture, and support customers with application-level design and integration of next-generation Motor driver ICs. Day-to-day work includes building a creative product backlog, collaborating with marketing, sales, and IC design teams, drafting product requirements and functional safety goals, leading feasibility studies, and providing technical guidance through design, evaluation, and validation. The role is based in Pune, India.
What you’ll do
- Build external customer relations and develop a product roadmap and strategic creative backlog
- Partner with marketing to build business cases and set product development priorities for the Motor driver line
- Draft initial product requirements (datasheets) by understanding customer electrical, mechanical, and thermal needs and defining functional safety goals
- Integrate new technologies with Allegro technologists and development teams to advance Motor Driver IC performance
- Lead feasibility studies with IC design and marketing and present results to management
- Provide technical guidance during design and evaluation, including proposing test strategy and ensuring specification compliance
- Work with packaging engineering to meet automotive standards, thermal budgets, and board-level reliability
- Support sales in generating collateral and helping customers integrate Motor Driver ICs
What you’ll bring
- BSEE or MSEE or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience
- Solid understanding of analog and digital electronics
- Understanding of Motors and magnetics
- Understanding of package thermal properties
- Customer-facing interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to define functional safety goals and draft product requirements
Nice to have
- Experience with automotive functional safety
- Experience with automotive product qualification
- High power or high voltage design experience
- Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink or other modeling tools
- Semiconductor industry background including manufacturing and packaging
- Strong mentorship capability
- Prior experience managing a systems or applications team
