Senior Systems Engineer, Mainframe Systems Programmer
India Full-time Remote
About the role
Mainframe Systems Engineering team at Precisely maintains the IBM z/OS environment that powers critical data services. The Senior Systems Engineer installs, configures, upgrades and tunes z/OS and JES2, monitors performance, and resolves incidents to ensure high availability and security. Remote work from India, with on‑call after‑hours support as needed.
What you’ll do
- Install, configure and upgrade z/OS and related hardware
- Monitor system performance and resource utilization
- Diagnose and remediate production issues
- Collaborate with application developers to prevent operational impact
- Develop and enforce system security policies
- Implement backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery procedures
- Provide after‑hours emergency support
- Produce and review RMF/SMF performance reports
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years mainframe systems programming
- IBM z/OS enterprise experience
- JCL, DASD, VSAM expertise
- Parallel Sysplex and Coupling Facility knowledge
- SMP/E upgrade and maintenance experience
- JES2 and system initialization proficiency
- Mainframe security (RACF) familiarity
- Programming in Assembler, Rexx, Python or C
