Director, Software Engineering

About the role

Inovalon is a healthcare data and technology company on a mission to empower the healthcare ecosystem with data-driven solutions that improve outcomes and economics. The Director, Software Engineering will guide, coach, and mentor managers and teams across a small to medium product portfolio, focusing on people management, agile practices, and enabling self-directed teams to execute corporate strategy. Based in Gurugram, India, the role requires participation in an on-call rotation covering evenings, weekends, and holidays, and includes up to 25% local travel for training.

What you’ll do

• Provide management and leadership for multiple teams to help achieve company objectives
• Own overall quality and delivery of multiple projects
• Identify goals and tracking metrics, and recommend process improvements
• Support organizational capacity through staffing, budget/compensation planning, skills development, and acquisition of tools and technologies
• Conduct regular succession planning for key roles within the Agile organization
• Manage and approve staff performance and discipline plans
• Help attract, recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent
• Embrace all Engineering facets including Engineering, QA, and DevOps

What you’ll bring

• 12+ years of relevant professional experience
• 6+ years of experience managing an array of team and department sizes
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, technical field, or equivalent experience
• Prior software engineering experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of the field's concepts, practices and procedures
• Demonstrated growth mindset with frequent feedback-seeking
• Strong ability to motivate others with good coaching and mentoring skills
• Ability to build new relationships and handle constructive conflict
