Principal Software Engineer

About the role

OneTrust seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead design and architecture of new and existing features on its AI‑Ready Governance Platform. The role focuses on developing web and mobile interfaces, cloud‑native applications on Azure, and backend services using Java, Spring, and Python. Responsibilities include ensuring high code quality, driving architecture discussions, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering critical features on schedule. The position requires deep expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, REST, SQL, NoSQL, Elastic Search, Kafka, and cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP). Candidates must have 8+ years of software engineering experience, strong Agile practices, and familiarity with CI/CD, Jenkins, and Kubernetes. What you’ll do

• Develop web and mobile interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Design, develop, unit test applications on MS Azure
• Architect cloud applications with Drupal, Python, Core Java, REST, Spring
• Achieve 80% code coverage per standards
• Collaborate with UX, Product Managers, Product Owners on planning, grooming
• Drive system architecture and component design discussions
• Ensure sprint stories meet sprint goal
• Reduce defects, catch and fix issues early
• Deliver critical high‑priority CII per SLA
• Conduct peer code reviews, improve code quality
• Mentor junior developers, guide testing, AI testing, test automation
• Build high‑performing teams, grow technical skills, create development opportunities

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years software engineering experience
• Expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, Design Patterns, SQL, REST/OAuth
• Experience with Elastic Search, Kafka, NoSQL, SQL databases
• Agile development (Scrum, XP, Pair Programming)
• Cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP) and Drupal, Ember, Angular, Python

Nice to have

• Familiarity with relational and document databases
• CI/CD tools (Jenkins)
• Kubernetes cluster deployment, scaling, management
