About the role

Verizon seeks a Director of AI/ML Engineering to lead teams scaling Data Engineering solutions for Corporate and Financial Analysis domains. The role involves building best-in-class data services, devising AI strategies, and driving platform modernization across Cloud and Big Data ecosystems. This hybrid position is based in Chennai or Hyderabad, India.

What you’ll do

• Lead teams of people managers, senior data engineers, and architects
• Build best-in-class solutions on premise, Cloud, and edge for real-time and batch workloads
• Devise AI strategies to streamline data intake to consumption processes
• Implement modern data industrialization practices and drive cloud migration activities
• Establish enterprise data reliability, governance, and FinOps disciplines
• Serve as a technical thought leader and advisor to the organization
• Mentor Senior Data experts and people leaders to build a strong leadership pipeline
• Create monetizable services leveraging Verizon’s partners and internal needs

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree with eight or more years of relevant Data engineering and leadership experience
• Fifteen or more years of overall work experience
• Experience leading Data and AI Infused engineering teams on GCP, Modern Data platforms, and Big Data/Hadoop
• Experience in Data Architecture
• Experience applying AI to the data lifecycle

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or an MBA
• Strong knowledge of Corporate Service and Financial perspective with Telecom domain expertise
• Experience implementing AI, Gen AI, and Agentic AI solutions into Engineering practice
• Experience driving significant cost optimization on Google Cloud
